Lawyers for Harris Reception with Gov Andy Beshear, Sen. Alex Padilla, Sen. Doug Jones & Special Guests Maury Riggan and others

Lawyers for Harris sponsored a Reception with featured speakers Governor Andy Beshear, Senator Alex Padilla, and Senator Doug Jones, with other special guests including Maury Riggan, General Counsel for the Harris campaign, and Former Congressman Chris Dodd.

Speakers provided an updated on the campaign, and addressed the campaign’s electoral advocacy, voter protection, and fundraising.

Highlighted were Harris’ track record, her positions on pressing issues, and the need to fend off an obvious threat to democracy.

General Counsel Riggan shared how staff lawyers and volunteers have been undertaking electoral rights advocacy in state and federal courts, at boards of elections, and elsewhere around the U.S. to help ensure that each eligible voter is permitted to cast their vote, and how the campaign is preparing for possible challenges Post-Election Day.

Ms. Riddan also highlighted the critical need for the campaign’s Voter Protection and Access unit, spearheaded by Meredith Horton, the National Director for Voter Protection and Access, with Mike Jones as Deputy National Voter Protection and Access Director. Lawyers For Harris members emphasized fundraising, and encouraged attendance at future Lawyers For Harris events, and suggested that attendees may raise money on their own, or donate directly to the campaign.

Still a Great Need For You To Help!

It was made clear that there is still a pressing need for lawyer and non-lawyer volunteers to assist! You may assist by clicking on these links for: (a) voter protection; (b) electoral advocacy; and (c) fundraising.

1. Sign Up For Voter Protection:

a. There is a pressing need for Voter Protection volunteers in several swing states.

b. Please check the Lawyers For Harris Voter Protection page, where you can find three different Voter Protection volunteer Forms to choose among. Choose one or more Forms, complete and submit them.

c. Voter Protection volunteers are needed during Early Vote (over 1 million people have voted already!), Election Day (polls / hotline), and post-Election Day (ballot tabulation / counting, pre-certification).

d. You may work for only a morning or afternoon, 1 or a couple of days, or a longer period. Work on site, or from your home or office.

e. Remember – You need not be a lawyer to assist ! Anyone interested in the Rule of Law is welcome to participate in Voter Protection.

2. Sign Up For Electoral Advocacy

a. Join campaign and volunteer lawyers engaged in electoral rights advocacy in state and federal courts, at boards of elections, and wherever needed to help ensure that each eligible voter is permitted to cast their vote.

b. For some but not all slots, bar membership is required.
