The DCCC Urgently Seeks to Train Volunteers for its Ballot Cure Hotline

Curing ballots is important in protecting the right to vote. When a voter mails in their ballot, and an election official believes that there was an error in the ballot, the official may be required to notify the voter of the perceived error and provide the voter an opportunity to correct the mistake, or to “cure” the ballot. Perhaps the voter forgot to sign their ballot envelope, or their current signature does not match the signature they used when they registered to vote years before.

What will you do when helping to cure ballots?

  • When a voter’s mail in ballot is rejected, legal professionals are often needed to participate in the process in which that ballot is cured.

  • In states around the U.S., you can work remotely, from your home, to answer voters’ calls about how they can cure their ballot, and fully exercise their right to vote.

  • You would undergo a 1-hour online training, that will prepare you to answer the range of questions voters will ask from around the U.S.

  • All you need to help is a smart phone and the internet, and a willingness to make a difference.

  • No prior voter protection experience is needed!

  • After you are trained, you can sign up for Hotline Volunteer Shifts with the DCCC Voter Protection Ballot Cure team!
